Valentino Ferrari joined Swinton Technology for one week in October for his work experience; he is in year 11 from Scarborough UTC school and studies Computer Science, Engineering Manufacture, Engineering Design, Geography, Maths, English and Triple Science.
Valentino took an interest in Swinton Technology as the company has an experienced software team which he saw would be very valuable to him to help gain industry knowledge. Valentino also has a keen interest in the energy industry 'I saw that Swinton Technology played a vital role in the energy industry, making the company critical in the working world. So, I saw this as a great opportunity to achieve experience of working within the software and programming world.'
Everyone on the software team mentored Valentino, but Alex Roskoss, Products and Development Manager at Swinton, was his primary mentor. 'Valentino has fit in very well over the week and sought out help when needed whilst tackling his tasks.' He has helped the company build tools that will improve our developments' quality and reduce the time and effort spent on engineering tasks by using C# and other applications. In the short time he has been here, he has learned first-hand about the growing importance of software in the modern-day world. 'He showed us within his temporary placement here that he has a great deal of potential and the right approach to learning the skills and behaviours needed to succeed. In the future, I hope Valentino will explore other working environments and better understand the technical and lifestyle opportunities available in this field.' - Alex Roskoss.
We wish him the best of luck in his career in the future; it was a pleasure having him at Swinton Technology.
