We have been operating in the Middle East for over 14-years, and as of November 2021, we have officially opened a new base for our engineers. In the past, Middle Eastern projects have been delivered by our UK Head Quarters or from our facility in Malaysia. However, due to increased demand over the past few years, country initiatives for localisation have driven Swinton Technology to open a brand-new workshop and office facility in Saudi Arabia. We already had an engineering team based in Saudi for local support working from a business partners facility; however, the increased demand meant we needed a more specialised build and test area for the GCC projects.

Business Director Donald Angus joined Swinton Technology in 2020 is leading the operation; he is based at the Saudi Arabia facility in Al Khobar. Donald has over 30-years of experience in the oil and gas metering global market and has previously been based in Oman and Qatar. However, the bulk of his career took place in Europe's Oil Capital City of Aberdeen, Scotland.
Donald says 'Swinton Technology has been working on plans for a number of years to open a manufacturing and service centre in the Middle East. The pandemic drove us to concentrate harder on achieving this goal as moving personnel around the globe with quarantines and restrictions has been quite a challenge. We have a significant install base in Saudi Arabia which is ever-expanding, so it was the obvious choice for our first such facility in the Middle East. Over the coming months, we will be increasing the workforce with local engineers and personnel. We also have our sights on further expansion across the Middle East to increase our localised support to our customers. Thus demonstrating our long term commitment to the region by opening such facilities, and we can fully support the client from the smallest to the largest projects in the country.'
At the new facility, we have been very busy with the set-up; we already have our ISO14001, 45001 and 9001 certifications, and we have applied for the Saudi Aramco approvals for metering services for this facility; our UK facility is already approved.
Although the facility is freshly opened and the paint is still drying, we have already been fortunate enough to show off the space to some of our loyal customers and suppliers. Their feedback has been heart-warming, and we look forward to working with each of them in the near future. Just last month, we hosted the Vice President of OMNI Flow Computers; he really appreciated the modern and relaxed feel we made within the facility. The team has been busy buying new demonstration and test equipment and setting up simulators and a client training experience area.
